The Art 1 course includes various drawing techniques including perspective, value and observational drawing. Students also learn about color theory including the color wheel, mixing tints, shades, tones. During the painting unit students learn the grid method to transfer an image as accurate as possible as well as experience using watercolor. In the sculpture unit, students learn about 3D art and students create sculptures out of paper maché and/or wire. At the end of the year, students are given the opportunity to work with linoleum block prints in order to create various works of art.
